Texas vs British Columbia
This was the first year that the Canadians have participated in State Wars and they brought several amazingly skilled teams to the tournament. Our first game was against British Columbia. This was clearly a well practiced, AAA level team. BC dominated the game against us with a final score of 6-0.

Texas vs Pennsylvania
The team from Pennsylvania surprised us. They were clearly another AAA level team. These guys were fast and skilled. They played well as a team and did well in the tournament. Pennsylvania won this game 5-1.

Texas vs Connecticut
The Connecticut team played well at the AA level. This was a competitive and well matched game. Everyone played hard and played well, but in the end Connecticut came out on top 3-0. This was a tough loss for us.

Texas vs North Carolina
The North Carolina team was a good AA level team and a good competitive match for Texas. Individual play was great but we just couldn't quite jell as a team. North Carolina came out on top 5-3. This was a game we should have been able to win, but sometimes the breaks just don't go your way. Tough loss for Texas.

Texas vs New Jersey
Our first AA playoff game on Friday pitted 10th seed Texas against 11th seed New Jersey. The boys came in ready to play and ready for a win. Texas dominated play through most of the game carrying a 5-3 lead until near the end of regulation play. A couple of defensive mistakes and missed offensive opportunities allowed the New Jersey team to even the score right at the end of regulation play. This forced a sudden death overtime period. In overtime a fatal defensive mistake allowed an almost unchallenged breakaway by New Jersey that resulted in a game winning goal that defeated the stronger Texas team. For the Texas team this was really the toughest loss for the boys to accept, but those are the breaks of the game. New Jersey defeated Texas 6-5 in OT.
